Breed identity
Small rough-coated companion dog with a distinctive monkey-like expression. Strong and compact body with square proportions. Weight about 4–6 kg, height at withers 25–30 cm. FCI Standard No. 186, in Group 2 (Pinscher and Schnauzer). 

Harsh, dense coat. FCI states pure black with black undercoat, AKC (USA) allows multiple colours (listed in the standard) and notes colour is not a major consideration.

Temperament
Fearless, alert, persistent and devoted, sometimes with a quick-tempered spark.
